My friend Sharon just returned from Alaska, and I am leaving tomorrow on a trip to south central Colorado. So today we hiked together.
We headed to the high country where it’s cooler. We took a short hike to Mitchell Lake in the Indian Peaks Wilderness.
The meadows to the south of the lake were where we found the greatest beauty. At this season that means wildflowers.
I looked forward the most to seeing wildflowers that I remembered as blooming along rushing creeks. We found them at 10,700 feet along the wide and fast creek from Blue Lake to Mitchell Lake.

Just as beautiful are the Little Pink Elephants.
