A light rain this Sunday morning didn’t stop my friend Tom Schulte and me from getting out. We walked through three parks, each within half an hour of his home in Redmond, Washington. At each place I quickly pulled out my camera from under my raincoat to capture what most attracted me.
At Juanita Bay Park in Kirkland, Tom pointed out a herd of swallows on a tree beside the bay.

At Houghton Beach Park also in Kirkland, Tom showed me a hybrid of a Mallard and another duck that he had seen before. Some people call them “Manky Mallards.”

At Snoqualmie Falls Park in Snoqualmie we not surprisingly wanted to see the falls. This shot hints at its power.

Humans need and love water. In all its forms. Even when we have to walk in the rain.
